Position Summary: 

Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Plant, incumbent prepares surfaces for painting by cleaning, patching, filling, sanding, and scraping as appropriate.  Orders required materials and applies to interior and exterior surfaces using spray guns, rollers, brushes, etc.  Removes and re-installs electrical plates, signs, bulletin boards, etc.  In addition, incumbent functions as unit resource to staff and prioritizing work flow.

 

Salary Range: 

Rate    Minimum  $31.94   Midpoint  $32.26   Maximum  $32.58

 

Responsibilities:   

Accurately maintains all required records/documentation

Accurately performs routine preventive maintenance in a timely manner

Administers work unit policies and procedures as needed to ensure consistency with Medical Center practice

Assesses staff competency in identifying and managing operational needs

Assists in the evaluation of staff performance within the unit

Ensures that areas of responsibility are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements, policies and law

Functions as role model

Handles trouble calls and dispatches trade or crafts to emergency

Identifies and requisitions parts and materials to perform work

Identifies problems and recommends repairs and/or improvements

Interprets schematics, blueprints, technical specifications, manufacturer's recommendations/requirements, and MSDS to assure correct and safe installation of systems and equipment

Maintain documentation on assignments, competency, and performance proficiency

Makes, paints, engraves, and/or stencils signs as needed or directed

Oversees daily review and spot-check of work, verifying accuracy and completeness

Oversees procedures for accurate and timely delivery of services

Patch, repair, and/or replace damaged surfaces of structures, structural components and equipment

Performs minor construction and/or installation to improve facility

Prepare surfaces and apply protective coatings and appropriate primers to surfaces of structures, structural components and equipment

Prepares staff schedule to pre-established staffing levels, ensuring appropriate coverage

Provides consultation to areas outside the department where work unit procedures are performed

Provides direction for personnel, prioritizing and facilitating workflow to ensure efficient delivery of services

Provides effective training to staff as needed

Provides input for the hiring process in the work unit

Serves as a resource person to resolve problems as they occur in the work unit

 

Required Qualifications:

Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, shop drawings and manufacturers technical manuals

Current State of California Driver's License

Must work overtime or alternate shifts as required to meet hospital needs

Understanding of regulatory controls and requirements of NEC, NFPA, AQMD, OSHA, and JCAHO standards
