Position Summary: 

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and is responsible for maintaining coded data quality through ongoing quality review and assessment of patient records. Performs concurrent audits as proscribed by the DRG Assurance Program. Prepares reports for management review, identifies trends and takes appropriate actions in response. Conducts retrospective audits. Conducts individual coding audits. In conjunction with the Assistant Director, contributes to the development of educational/training opportunities for physicians and staff to address coding deficiencies identified.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $28.93   Midpoint  $38.94   Maximum  $48.95


Required Qualifications:

Ability to analyze data for trends and develop actions in response to findings

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in the department and across the Health System

Ability to generate reports for management review that present audit results in a clear manner

Ability to meet deadlines and respond well to frequent changes in regulation

Ability to work independently and be a self starter

CCS credential or required within six (6) months of hire

Demonstrate interpersonal and team skills, and ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology

Minimum of 2 years of coding audit experience

Skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the job duties

Strong knowledge of prospective payment systems and corporate compliance programs

User level experience using personal computers, particularly with encoding, abstracting and prospective payment grouper systems
