Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for clinical services contracting for medical group contracts on behalf of University Physicians & Surgeons (UPS), and facility contracts on behalf of UC Irvine Medical Center. The incumbent will identify, establish and maintain contract relationships with referral medical groups, referral hospitals, health plans and other third-parties to enable patient referrals. In addition, incumbent is responsible for collaborating to create, update, and execute the Contracting Department's strategic plan and providing guidance to Contracting Department staff.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $84,200.00    Maximum  $151,500.00


Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to successfully represent UC Irvine Health to the external community

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Healthcare Management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Excellent negotiation skills and proven ability to influence others internal and external to the organization

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Minimum 7 years’ experience working in contracting for a health plan, medical group or hospital

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Strong financial, analytical and planning skills to effectively evaluate projects and new business opportunities

Two or more years’ experience in managed care contract negotiations within a hospital, medical group or health plan environment


Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Previous experience working in an academic medical setting
