Position Summary: 

Incumbent will lead, direct and oversee the physician-led value analysis process, resource utilization committee and nursing standards committee. Responsible for assessing product function and cost across the clinical spend landscape utilizing cost, quality and patient outcome data to identify opportunities. Ensures development and execution of a structured approach that will maximize our application of Supply Chain data analytics and clinical evidence leading to best in class efficiency, product standardization and utilization. Drives cost reduction opportunities in collaboration with regional and system-based value management activities. Conduct Value Analysis Committee Chairman preparation and ongoing follow-up. Facilitates consensus among clinical stakeholders, determine and resolve barriers, and complete clinical product cross matches. Educates and orients client Value Analysis Team members regarding processes and their role on teams. Collaborates with multidisciplinary Value Analysis team Chairs, Champions, and Team members. Reviews clinical spend landscapes, ERP reports and new item reports to identify opportunities. Identifies utilization and waste reduction opportunities. Communicates Value Analysis activities, results and decisions throughout the enterprise. The incumbent will ensure efficient operations in each of the main areas of responsibility. Efficiency monitored through a set of KPIs by area of responsibility.


Required Qualifications:

Ability to interface regularly with C-suite executives and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to meet and establish positive working relationships with all levels of a customer’s organization, including but not limited to employees of the purchasing department, clinicians, physicians, and executive level leaders

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents, clinical documentation, and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clinicians, physicians, executives, and vendors

Ability to work with key stakeholders and establish ongoing relationships to achieve highest level of engagement to successfully understand and deliver desired outcomes

Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, business administration, health care, nursing or related field

Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Excellent executive and team communication skills, both written and verbal; critical thinking, decision making, and leadership skills

Experience in analyzing healthcare processes toward improving patient outcomes

Minimum eight years combined clinical experience in a procedural or critical care hospital setting with direct Value Analysis experience in an IDN or other large system

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Strong management experience in healthcare administration with emphasis on management of supply chain management and to include Laboratory services and regulatory compliance in assigned areas

Strong planning, financial and analytical skills to provide effective leadership for assigned areas


Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Value Analysis Healthcare Professional

Demonstrated experience with data management tools and reporting

Demonstrated experience with total cost and related financial analytical techniques

Experience in a higher education procurement environment, demonstrating familiarity with procurement, small business, strategic sourcing; and the policies, regulations, and issues faced by research institutions of higher education

Familiarity with Environmentally Preferable Purchasing, life cycle cost analysis and the incorporation of sustainability measures in supply management

Knowledge of UCI policies and procedures

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Lean or other process improvement certification

Professional purchasing certification such as CPM or CPSM

Project Management Certification

Proven project management skills, including the ability to set project objectives, determine and address potential barriers; identify required resources/sources, identify process steps and milestones; and adjust action plans to achieve desired outcomes

Value Analysis management or consulting experience in a large, operationally complex health system
