Position Summary: 

Independently performs advanced level work in ongoing government reporting and analytic services in support of the University of California Irvine, Medical Center's strategic missions. Charged with providing expert analytic services and consulting expertise to all levels of management. The position requires advanced level of Medicare/Medi-Cal reimbursement expertise, financial analysis, technical skills, creativity, organizational and project management ability. Coordinates all Federal and State cost reporting activities to ensure that the Medical Center receives maximum reimbursement consistent with Federal and State regulations. Responsible for third party contractual allowance and prior year settlement schedules. Represents the Medical Center to state and federal agencies, prepares appeals and negotiates settlements for governmental audit disputes. Provides expert reimbursement consulting assistance to management at the Medical Center and School of Medicine to promote financially sound decision making. Incumbent is a Medical Center liaison with agencies representing Medicare, Medi-Cal, Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, and CHAMPUS/Tricare. This position acts in a team lead capacity and oversees the work of less experienced staff and meets with Controller and CFO on reimbursement issues.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $84,200.00    Maximum  $151,500.00


Required Qualifications:

2 or more years' experience in healthcare

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment

Ability to work independently to formulate processes and analyze data.

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field

Demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Five or more years experience in healthcare auditing, three of which were in a reimbursement governmental program or similar role

Must demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with staff and senior management

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Proficient computer skills to be able to generate complex spreadsheets, reports, presentations, summaries and briefs


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in supervising or managing employees, including providing feedback

Master's Degree in Related Field

Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply sound judgment in ambiguous situations
