Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Laboratory Outreach/Pre-analytical Manager, the Support Services Supervisor is responsible for all operations of the Pre-analytical processing and collection in Support Services. Selects, orients and trains new staff, directs workflow, coaches and disciplines staff, defines performance expectations, assures excellent customer service, ensures staff competency, maintains accurate records, provides for effective communication and encourages ongoing employee development. Serves as a resource for service related issues in this laboratory sub-section, especially related to customer service, service to practitioners and problem solving, specimen requirements and handling. Position may have Hospital Lab Tech IV Supervisor(s) reporting to it.


Salary Range: 

Rate    Minimum  $60,400.00    Maximum  $102,200.00


Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Current California Phlebotomy technician license

Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Strong computer skills to be able to work effectively in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Three years of recent supervisory experience


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a science or healthcare related field

Experience and math skills to effectively develop and/or monitor budgets

Experience using lab/hospital computer systems and software

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
