Position Summary: 

The incumbent performs audits of controlled substance systems via system databases, including transactions utilizing the automated dispensing cabinet (ADC). Incumbent is responsible for collection, validation, analysis, and coordination of reporting for internal and external controlled substances data. Incumbent will analyze usage patterns and prepare monthly compliance and trend reports with a high degree of independence.

Under general direction, incumbent will assist with the investigation of suspected cases of controlled substances diversion. The incumbent will coordinate meetings and/or presentations with the appropriate committees across a range of clinical disciplines, pharmacy staff, nursing, physicians, and practice settings. Incumbent will provide analytical support to the Chief Pharmacy Officer, Assistant Chief Pharmacy Officer, Pharmacist Specialists, and Pharmacist Supervisors to identify areas of improvement and recommend changes critical to the implementation of solutions to controlled substance policies and procedures. Incumbent will participate in projects assigned by higher management and/or health system administration.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $57,400.00    Maximum  $97,300.00


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent education and experience in pharmacy, informatics, nursing, computer science, or similar field

Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, attention to detail, and ability to present data clearly

Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills, with a high degree of sensitivity and tact in dealing with difficult or stressful situations

Two years of related clinical experience


Preferred Qualifications:

CA Pharmacy Technician License in good standing

Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)

Experience standardizing, manipulating, analyzing, and visualizing complex, large volume, multi-dimensional data from diverse sources

Experience working in a health care setting with first-hand experience handling controlled substances

Knowledge of controlled substances compliance and diversion prevention

Proficiency in handling data and information retrieval
