Position Summary: 

The Cleaning/Disinfection/Sterilization (CDS) Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of training curriculum for the onboarding and ongoing staff development in all areas performing transport, pre-cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and storage of instruments and medical devices such as endoscopes. Provides support across UC Irvine Health to all locations, inpatient units, ambulatory clinics, and the Sterile Processing Department that employ these processes. The position will support the CDS Committee through analysis of provided data to assess CDS program compliance and participating in performance improvement initiatives to improve processes. Promotes excellence in clinical practice and participates in development and maintenance of policies through interpretation of current standards of practice related to CDS.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $63,100.00    Maximum  $107,200.00


Required Qualifications:

Ability and comfort working with all levels of staff and management

Ability to develop and perform competency assessments related to cleaning, disinfection and sterilization

Ability to ensure regulatory compliance with cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes throughout the organization, including the development and performance of process tracers related to cleaning, disinfection and sterilization

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to travel to all UC Irvine Health locations involved with equipment and device CDS

Bachelor’s degree OR Associate’s degree with International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management certification (CRCST)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience with creating and effectively providing educational curriculum

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Proficiency in computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to draft, edit, and produce a variety of documents such as training manuals and compliance reports

Strong project management skills, capable of identifying, developing, implementing, monitoring, and revising performance improvement initiatives related to CDS


Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years’ experience working with cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes

Knowledge of UCI policies and procedures

Nursing degree or higher education related to healthcare

Training in Lean Six Sigma methodologies
