Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for the financial outcomes of the assigned units within the Admissions Department . Maintains the operations, planning, allocation and evaluation of these units. Responsible for daily processing to include outside vendor staff and workload. Acts as central control point for admitting issues. Represents UCI Admission Services as MSI coordinator, CCS coordinator and all governmental agencies. Maintains and coordinates the Admissions & Registration ADT system (EPIC). Communicates with patients, physicians, staff and visitors, demonstrating caring and reflecting the UCI Medical Center Mission and Strategic Plan. Coordinates staff training, development and unit management. Specific duties include managing Human Resources, monitoring unit budgets, assuring that the standards of operation of the department are in compliance with regulatory agencies. Participates on departmental and medical center-wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and resource to colleagues, staff, and others.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $60,400.00    Maximum  $102,200.00

Always maintains records related to operations and services that are complete, accurate, available and in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements; Effectively demonstrates strategic thinking in developing short-term goals for the department, consistent with the UCI Medical Center institutional goals and objectives; Effectively develops operating, supplies, and services and capital budgets consistent with unit/department/medical center goals and objectives that result in optimal use of resources; Independently directs the daily operations of the Admissions unit to include financial counseling and linkage to governmental programs, insurance verification unit, pre-admit and SDC unit, price quotes



Communicates effectively with upper management, peers and other disciplines within the hospital, outside agencies and other entities to ensure prompt and proper exchange of information and resolution of issues; Consistently provides services which anticipate and/or exceed customer expectations in terms of quantity, quality, cost, and delivery requirements; Effectively represents unit/department in committee meetings and other venues; Effectively resolves problems through the use of sound critical thinking



Consistently ensures compliance with all university policy/procedures, applicable laws, regulatory agency requirements, codes of practice and organization work standards (service, quality and safety standards); Effectively develops unit/department operational policies and procedures; Effectively manages fiscal resources; Ensures departmental compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, and licensing standards; Is fiscally and environmentally responsible for the prudent use of employee talents, financial resources, and external service providers as appropriate

Required Qualifications:

3 years experience in admitting management and/or supervision

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to problem solve, prioritize and organize work

Demonstrated knowledge of financial, registration, and admitting systems

Demonstrated knowledge of managed care, contracting and federal billing guidelines

Demonstrated knowledge of training curriculums and the ability to monitor productivity

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
