Position Summary: 

Under the direction of the Manager, the Clinical Nurse functions independently providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the Neuroscience Clinic's Neurological Surgery, Neurology, and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation services. Functions as the primary contact for patients. Provides education as needed to patients/family related to the surgical/medical care, diagnostic procedures, medication, and other complex aspects of the plan of care. Assures that the continuum of care process is complete to include: pre-procedure & surgery, therapy protocols, hospitalization, anticipated discharge needs, and follow up in the physician offices. Supports the faculty in clinic during patient care session. Performs scheduling of office visits, procedures, and makes referrals as necessary. Serves as a role model to the clinic staff. Assists in developing patient education for the assigned clinic.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $43.46   Midpoint  $51.56   Maximum  $59.66



Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Basic Life Support

Current California RN license

Minimum of 6 months demonstrated nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory care setting

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties


Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Understanding of JCAHO requirements
