Position Summary: 

Incumbent is responsible for management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care. Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing human resources, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets, and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $38.31   Midpoint  $53.71   Maximum  $69.11



Required Qualifications:

A minimum of three years of nursing experience in a pulmonary or GI care setting

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the HealthSystem

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment

Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

Advanced Cardiac Life Support

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Basic Life Support

Current California RN license

Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience

Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical instrumentation and equipment, and practice of infection control techniques, body mechanics and age related acuity levels

Demonstrated teaching/education/in-service skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

PALS certification upon hire

Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Conscious Sedation experience

Experience in Gastroenterology

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Previous experience in medical surgical ICU
