Position Summary: 

Incumbent provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Cancer Center.  The nurse incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation.  Acts as a role model to students and Clinical Nurse's new to the unit.  Functions as a (PCC)Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.


Salary Range: 


Rate    Minimum  $55.92   Midpoint  $55.92   Maximum  $55.92


Required Qualifications:

2-3 years of Oncology Experience

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment

Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English

Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Basic Life Support

Chemotherapy administration experience

Current California RN license

Demonstrated knowledge and practice of infection control techniques

Demonstrated strong customer service skills

Knowledge and practice of age related acuity levels

Knowledge and practice of body mechanics

Minimum of six months demonstrated nursing experience


Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families

Chemotherapy Certification

Experience in the acute care hospital or outpatient cancer centers

Previous Case Management experience

Understanding of JCAHO requirements
