Position Summary: 

As the Chief Information Officer, is responsible for managing all information systems and telecommunication resources across the hospital and ambulatory facilities and UCI Irvine Health.  Serves as a member of the senior management team for UCI Irvine Health and participates in the Medical Enterprise’s strategic planning processes, and shares responsibility for leading the achievement of its established goals.   

Required Qualifications:

Five or more years of experience as Chief Information Officer in a large complex health system with related accomplishments in organizational development, productivity improvement, cost management, and performance improvement

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Hospital Management or other directly related major

Extensive knowledge of project planning, either through a PMP certification process or extensive experience in this field (ten plus years at the senior level of management utilizing planning skills)

Strong understanding of the business workings of an academic medical center

Demonstrated strong executive and technical knowledge of clinical and financial healthcare information systems, and vendor management skills.  This knowledge should include system architecture knowledge

Proven strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including senior leadership, physicians, staff and students

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Evidence of management style that emphasizes collegiality, teamwork, participation, communication and service orientation

Ability to serve as an effective champion for quality, change and continuous performance improvement using passion and persuasive skills

Ability to address both broad and strategic issues and the management of day-to-day operations

Ability to innovate.  Encourages creative thinking and imaginative solutions to issues or problems

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

 Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate Degree in Information Management or related field

Relevant experience in an academic medical center
