 Position Summary: 

Incumbent serves in an executive director and chief ambulatory level position with a reporting relationship to the President, University Physicians & Surgeons (UPS) and Chief Operating Officer for the Medical Center. 

This position drives the process for developing and implementing operating plans for UPS and ambulatory care practice sites in support of the operational and strategic goals of UC Irvine Health . Manages the administrative and business affairs of UPS. Consults, advises and assists the President of UPS in providing leadership and direction in the operation of UPS.  Exercises oversight for daily operations of the Ambulatory Care Practices, Call Center/Referral Center, Sites of Service 11, and Sites of Service 22, UPS Finance, Professional Fee Billing, Credentialing, Capitation Management Performance, Physician Productivity, Compliance, and collaborates with the Contracting department.


Required Qualifications:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the UC Irvine Health Affairs and work effectively with diverse stakeholders, especially physicians

A minimum of four to six years’ experience in healthcare financial management

Strong communication skills to communicate using a variety of methods with all levels of staff and with external agencies

Master's Degree in Business, Nursing, Health Care Administration or related field

A management style which emphasizes teamwork, participation, communication and a service orientation.

Strong operations experience and ability to plan and executive performance improvement initiatives.

Strong understanding of practice management systems, electronic medical records systems and financial management systems

Ten or more years’ experience in a senior management position in a medical practice setting


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an academic medical center environment

Membership in MGMA or ACHE and ACMPE certification
